Palestine Telecommunication Company and Forum for Young Scientists celebrate last Monday the closing of the “Days to Discover” activities with the participation of 150 children. Activities were conducted as part of the creativity and excellence Project which Paltel supports in collaboration with Forum for Young Scientists. Project aims at stimulating critical thinking for children and providing them means for creativity and excellence. 

At the closing party, the children presented their material and creative products that range from artistic to cultural and scientific. Among demonstrated projects are Winds and Energy to be used as electricity providing alternative. Many children were able to use geometric figures on computer software programs that suit their age range (6-15 years old).

Engineer Khamis Abu-Wardeh, Director of Telecommunication sector in Gaza said: “the timing of the “Days to Discover” activities is so important to Gaza children especially with the intensity of the Israeli closures”. He added that the activity accomplished noticeable success through stimulating the children’s abilities and developing their skills. The results encourage us to continue supporting the children especially those who are living under severe conditions in Gaza and wished to contribute positively to improve their living conditions through their genuine discoveries”.

Feda AlAgha, Forum for Young Scientists Representative said: “children managed to employ what they have learnt during the “Days to Discover”. Being involved in such activities allows children to cope with the situation they live under and increase the cooperation spirit and feeling of loyalty”. AlAgha noted: “children performed theatre pieces, Dabka dances and patriotic songs that reflect their aspirations under current circumstances”.

At the end of the party, certificates were distributed to children who all asked that similar activities take place again. It is decided that “Days to Discover” third round will be launched in Jineen City during the coming week. Palestine Telecommunication Company and Forum for Young Scientists and through the creativity and excellence project will open chance for distinguished children who were chosen from the fifth, sixth, and seventh grade from Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, Khan Younis and Gaza cities at the beginning of the scholastic year.
