Nablus- Palestine Telecommunication Company employees participate in the open day called for by the Thalassemia Friend Society and the health Workers committees by donating blood in support of the Thalassemia patients. As a result and after a full day to donate, 46 blood units were donated. .

Paltel dedicated full day to allow its employees to participate in blood donation activities. Coordination with the Thalassemia Friends Society took place to bring equipment to the main premises of Palestine Telecommunication Company in Nablus.

Dr. Wasef AlMasri, Acting CEO- Head of the Information Technology Administration at Palestine Telecommunication Company said: “the Thalassemia Friends Society asked Paltel, being a major company that positively participates in the community support, for assistance to continue providing services for the Thalassemia patients. We responded and dedicated a full working day where our employees donate blood in support of the Thalassemia patients. Many of our employees responded.

AlMasri added: “what drive us to respond to this demand is that we consider our role a social one within a comprehensive framework. Our support to the Palestinian Community does not only include moral, materialistic or financial support but also “in blood”. During the Intifada, and the Israeli incursions, Palestine Telecommunication Company established a blood donation unit to support hospitals. “Paltel holds a distinctive characteristic in this field of social responsibility, of which we are very proud”.

Ghassan Anabtawi, Director for Sales and Marketing said: “we continue to support and we will not stop. We deeply believe that it is part of our responsibility towards the Palestinian Community. Palestine Telecommunication Company is one of the leading companies that adopt projects in support of the Palestinian individual that aim at improving the welfare conditions of people. By active involvement and dialogue, Paltel is looking to engage with and improve the well-being of the communities in which we operate. We went beyond providing telecommunication services, network expansions, and building exchanges by providing social services to all the society wherever and whenever they are. Forms of community support are diverse: during the Israeli incursions of Rafah, Paltel’s employees voluntarily donate one day''s salary in support of the Rafah people, and Paltel donated US$ 500,000 in support of education in Rafah”.

Anabtawi asked other companies “to support the community without need for international and foreign support. A clear example is what happened today”.

Hadia AlAzzoni, member of the Thalassemia Friends Society, said: “work has been conducted with the Health Workers’ Committees and Palestine Telecommunication Company Ltd (PALTEL)”. She added that it is important to donate blood to the Thalassemia patients. Patients need a blood unit every 3-4 weeks all life long. We asked Palestine Telecommunication Company for support as a national pioneer company that supports the Palestinian Community in many aspects, blood donation to name one.

Palestine Telecommunication Company will distribute an awareness raising brochure on Thalassemia to 240,000 customers in support of the Thalassemia patients. Brochures will be distributed together with Paltel’s telephone bills. 

It is worth mentioning that Palestine Telecommunication Company provides special support to patients and people with special needs. Palestine Telecommunication Company participated in supporting the Telemedicine techniques. It provided the Takhasosi Hospital of Nablus with a new video conferencing system to allow physicians conduct video conference sessions and share experiences with other physicians in different parts of the World.
